The Cinque Terre are between Levanto and La Spezia, on the Pisa - Genova railway line. The two cities at the ends act as gateways, and from there the regional train stops in all five villages. By car you get there from the A12 and the provincial road SP 370; in Monterosso the municipal car parks are paid by the hour.
The following instructions come from the Park, the Cinque Terre Tourist Consortium and the Municipality of Monterosso. The individual train fares are in the train guide.
The short answer
By train you arrive at La Spezia Centrale or Levanto and take the regional train, which stops in all five villages. By car, for Monterosso and Vernazza exit the A12 at Carrodano - Levanto; for Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore exit at La Spezia and follow the SP 370. In Monterosso the Loreto and Fegina car parks cost €3 per hour.
How do you get to the Cinque Terre?
By train to La Spezia Centrale or Levanto, then with the regional train that stops in every village: this is the route recommended by the Park.
From outside, La Spezia and Levanto can be reached on the Pisa - Genova line, and some Intercity trains stop directly at Riomaggiore and Monterosso. From 14 March to 1 November 2026, on the Levanto - La Spezia stretch you need the Cinque Terre fare or the Treno MS Card. If your ticket starts from a station outside the Park, an additional supplement of €3, €5 or €6 for an adult is added, according to the band.
Then there are the boats. According to the Consortium, in spring and summer there are daily connections from La Spezia, Lerici, Portovenere and Portofino.
From which airports can you reach the Cinque Terre?
The airports indicated by the Tourist Consortium are Genova Cristoforo Colombo, Pisa Galileo Galilei and Milan Malpensa.
From each you continue towards La Spezia or Levanto, the two stations at the ends of the Cinque Terre section, and from there by regional train. We do not publish connections or transfer times: the official sources we have read do not report them. The train route from the airport city is checked on Trenitalia.
How to get to the Cinque Terre by car?

These are the indications of the Tourist Consortium. The Park, in its FAQ, advises against arriving by car and indicates the train as the best choice. If you arrive by car, factor in parking: in Monterosso the Municipality publishes spaces and rates, for the other villages the sources we read do not provide figures.

How do you move between the villages of the Cinque Terre?
By train, which stops in all five; by boat, which serves four; on foot on the trails. Buses connect each village with its hamlets, not the villages with each other.
