Where do you get the Cinque Terre train?

At La Spezia Centrale or Levanto station, or at the station of each village: all five have the regional train stop.

From north to south the order is Levanto, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore, La Spezia Centrale. It is a section of the Pisa - Genova line, which serves all the villages; some Intercity trains stop at Riomaggiore and Monterosso, as recalled by the Cinque Terre Tourist Consortium.

In these stations, including La Spezia Centrale and Levanto, there are also the Park's Welcome Centers, where you can buy the Card and the Treno MS Card.

How much does the train from La Spezia to the Cinque Terre cost?

A Cinque Terre fare trip costs €5, €8 or €10 for an adult, according to the day's band, from 14 March to 1 November 2026.

There are three bands, A, B and C, and on the Trenitalia 2026 ABC calendar they have the colors green, yellow and red. It is the day of travel that decides the band. Check the calendar before leaving: we do not indicate which days fall into which band.

If you arrive from a station outside the Levanto - La Spezia stretch, the regional ticket includes a Cinque Terre supplement, also by band.

How does the Cinque Terre train ticket work?

You validate it before departure and it is valid for 75 minutes for a single trip, without intermediate stops.

In practice, a ticket from Riomaggiore to Vernazza does not allow you to get off at Manarola and get back on: each stop is a new trip. Trenitalia writes it like this: validation, «where provided», must be done before departure, and the journey must be completed within 75 minutes.

In the evening the price changes. On regional trains on the Levanto - La Spezia Centrale stretch departing from Levanto or La Spezia Centrale after 19:30, and until 4:00, you pay the Cinque Terre evening fare, equal to band A. Monthly and annual regional Liguria pass holders travel with the pass and an ID.

How much does the Cinque Terre Treno MS Card cost?

From 14 March to 1 November 2026 it goes from €22 for one day in band A to €81 for three days in band C, for an adult.

The Treno MS Card gives unlimited second-class travel on regional trains between Levanto and La Spezia, plus Park services: the paid Sentiero Verde Azzurro, buses in the villages, station toilets, wifi. From 14 March 2026 it includes the Via dell'Amore, with mandatory reservation and subject to availability. Here too the band counts: in the Trenitalia PDF there are separate calendars for the 1-, 2- and 3-day Card. The ages are the same as the Trekking Card: children 4 to under 12, over 70 from the 70th birthday.

How much does the Treno MS Card cost in November and December?

From 2 November to 31 December 2026 there is a single fare, no bands: for an adult €17.30 for one day, €29 for two, €34 for three.

These are the figures on the Park page about the Treno Card. The rules remain the same as for the rest of the year. The Card is in the holder's name, cannot be transferred, cannot be refunded and is valid until 23:59 on the last day. Keep an ID with you.

Single ticket or Treno MS Card: what is the difference?

The single ticket covers one 75-minute trip; the Treno MS Card covers unlimited trains for one, two or three days and the Park services, including Via dell'Amore.

Do the maths on your plan. With single tickets every descent into a different village is an extra trip; with the Card the number of trips does not matter. If you want to walk the Sentiero Verde Azzurro or do the Via dell'Amore, with single tickets you also need a Trekking Card, from €10 (€15 in high attendance).

Both depend on the day, because the trip and the Card follow the band calendar. The Card is non-refundable. Under 4s travel free with an adult who has the Card.

Where to find the 2026 Cinque Terre train schedules?

On the Trenitalia website and app. We do not publish timetables: they change, and the right source is the train operator.

Search for the route between any two stations on the line, for example La Spezia Centrale - Monterosso. On the Trenitalia Cinque Terre page you will find fares, calendar and conditions. Tickets and Cards are bought at the ticket office, at self-service machines, on the website and on the app.

A note for those moving around La Spezia: the Treno MS Card is not valid on La Spezia and Portovenere urban buses.

How to do the Cinque Terre tour by train?

Start from one end of the line and go village by village: from La Spezia the first is Riomaggiore, from Levanto it is Monterosso.

An example of a day: from La Spezia to Riomaggiore, on foot along the Via dell'Amore to Manarola in the reserved half-hour slot, then by train to Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. The Via dell'Amore is only walked from Riomaggiore towards Manarola, so starting from the south helps if you want to do it. The full tour, with alternatives, is in the one-day Cinque Terre guide.

If you prefer someone to organize trains and times, there are day trips with a tour leader. The train tour from La Spezia includes the Card for the trains; the day with Pisa from Florence includes the train tickets between the villages.
